YOU’VE GOT QUESTIONS. WE’VE GOT ANSWERS!

WHAT IS CHIROPRACTIC?

Chiropractic is a health care profession that focuses on disorders of the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system, and the effects of these disorders on general health. Chiropractic care is most often used and found very effective at treating neuromusculoskeletal complaints, including but not limited to back pain, neck pain, pain in the joints of the arms or legs, and headaches.

This is accomplished by realigning joints of the spine and allowing pressure to be taken off of nerves or problematic areas. The chiropractic adjustment attempts to restore normal physiological motion to the joint that is restricted allowing the body to function in a more biomechanically correct state.

DO CHIROPRACTORS ONLY DEAL WITH BACK AND NECK PAIN?

You may think that chiropractic care is only for back and neck pain. The truth is, chiropractic care can benefit a wide variety of health problems that stem from the dysfunction of your spinal joints and nervous system.

Everyday wear and tear, old injuries, and even stress can cause your vertebrae to lose their proper motion or position. Spinal joint dysfunction may be a source of irritation to your nervous system, causing pain and nerve interference throughout your body, even into the extremities.

Doctors of Chiropractic are trained and licensed to deal with the whole body. We treat almost any condition related to the musculoskeletal or nervous system. If we feel a specialist is in need for your condition a proper referral will be made.

HOW IS MENNER CHIROPRACTIC DIFFERENT FROM OTHER CHIROPRACTIC OFFICES?

We here at Menner Chiropractic like to incorporate therapeutic massage with different styles of Chiropractic manipulation. This allows for muscles as well as the joints/spinal segments to be treated allowing us to treat the cause and the effect whichever one it may be.

WHAT SHOULD I DO PRIOR TO COMING IN FOR MY FIRST VISIT?

You should call the office to verify your health insurance. If possible, try not to take any OTC pain medications within 6 hours of your visit as this may interfere with your injury presentation as well as mask the severity of the condition.

Download the appropriate forms from the website and fill them out to the best of your knowledge. Bring these forms along with any neck, back, or injured area x-rays/MRIs that you may have.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT ON MY FIRST VISIT?

Your first visit will consist of a thorough history and physical exam. We will take X-rays if we feel that your injury/condition warrants it.

You may or may not be treated on your first visit, that will be determined on an individual basis. Your first visit will most likely take between 60-75 minutes (showing up 10-15 minutes early is always a good idea).

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT ON MY SUBSEQUENT VISITS?

Subsequent visits can take either 10-15 minutes (for an adjustment only visit) or 45-60 minutes (for a full appointment). The type of appointment needed will be determined on an individual basis for each condition. Time spent in our office is face to face time, so 45-60 minutes is actual time you will be worked on.

HOW LONG WILL I NEED TO COME FOR?

This will be determined on an individual basis for your condition and how well you respond to treatment. Everybody is different so some individuals will respond quicker than others.

WILL TREATMENTS HURT?

Most treatments leave the individual feeling loose, relaxed, and in less pain than when they entered into the office. Some individuals have reported some minor discomfort such as mild soreness or aching following a treatment which is similar to a post workout soreness. This feeling usually resolves within 18-24 hours.

WILL MY INSURANCE COVER MY TREATMENT?

We are currently a participating provider with BCBS and Medicare. We will do everything we possibly can to get as much covered by your insurance company as is outlined in your plan. Most insurance companies do cover chiropractic care but everyone’s insurance coverage is different so you will need to call and have our office verify your insurance for you.
